A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - BARTLESVILLE 14.993 ACRES

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation acquired property in Washington County, Oklahoma containing 14.993 acres.  The property is south of Bartlesville along U.S. Highway No. 75.  The Washington County property is further described as follows:

 

Indian Meridian, Oklahoma, Washington County

 

Township 26 North, Range 13 East,

 

Section 28,                     The East 990.0 feet of the West 1103.5 feet of the N2 NW4 SW4.

 

Containing 14.993 acres.   Surface Only.

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of the Code of Federal Regulations. 

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Charles Hoskin, Jr., and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tract of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
