A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF SHANNON D. BUHL AS MARSHAL FOR THE CHEROKEE NATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, pursuant to Article VII, Section 14 of the Constitution of the Cherokee Nation, the Principal Chief is authorized to appoint the Marshal subject to confirmation by the Council of the Cherokee Nation.

WHEREAS, the terms of office for the Marshal shall be for five years beginning December, 2011 and ending November 2016.

WHEREAS Shannon D. Buhl is duly qualified to fill this position.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Shannon D. Buhl is hereby confirmed as the Marshal for the Cherokee Nation, to fulfill the duties of Marshal as specified in Article VII, Section 14 of the Constitution of the Cherokee Nation for a term beginning December 2011 and ending November 2016.
