COUNCIL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPROVAL OF A LEASE BETWEEN
CHEROKEE NATION AND THE PARK HILL COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION TO
CONSTRUCT THE PARK HILL COMMUNITY BUILDING ON THE ROSS SCHOOL
FEE PROPERTY
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self- government on behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Park Hill Community Organization has submitted a proposal for a Lease for the fee property at the Ross School, containing approximately I acre, Park Hill, Oklahoma, Cherokee County, for one dollar ($1.00) a year for fifty years. The community building is to be constructed on this unit next to the old Ross School;
WHEREAS, Park Hill Community Organization has been approved for the new community building once the property has been designated.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council, in order to improve efficiency, grants the Cherokee Nation Real Estate Services Department authority to lease the Ross School property at Park Hill for one dollar ($1.00) a year for fifty years, with the proper documents prepared, to the Park Hill Community Organization and that Chad Smith, Principal Chief (or his designee) be authorized to negotiate and execute all official matters in this regard.
CERTIFICATION
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the Council of the Cherokee Nation at a duly called meeting on the 11th day of  September, 2006, having 17 members present, constituting a quorum, by the vote of 17 yea; 0 nay; 0 abstaining.

NARRATIVE:
The request set forth in the attached resolution is for the leasing of the Ross School property, approximately 1 acre fee land, to the Park Hill Community Organization for the purpose of constructing the Park Hill Community Building. A proposal has been submitted to the Real Estate Services Department. The organization has been approved for the construction of a new community building and will maintain the property.
