Title
AN ACT RELATING TO CHEROKEE NATION OF OKLAHOMA LAW REGARDING SALARIES AND TRAVEL EXPENSES FOR THE PRINCIPAL CHIEF, DEPUTY PRINCIPAL CHIEF, AND COUNCIL MEMBERS; AMENDING 2 CNCA (LA 3-83); SEPERATING CERTAIN PROVISIONS INTO SEPARATE BILLS; ADDING NEW ITEMS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION:
SECTION I.      AMENDATORY      2 CNCA 1985 (LA 3-83)
paragraphs 1 and 2 are hereby repealed.
SECTION 2.      AMENDATORY      2 CNCA 1985 (LA 3-83), items
(1) and (2) are hereby separated from this Act.
SECTION 3.      AMENDATORY      2 CNCA 1985 (LA 3-83), item (3)
is to read as follows:      
Section 101. Council Allowances. Council members shall not receive a salary for conducting the official duties of their
office. -41D4-e- Council members shall receive $300.00 per month for
travel, plus $25.00 per official meeting attended of Standing Committees of the Council. No Council member shall be reimbursed for more than four (4) Committee meetings per calendar month.
Section 102. Distant Travel. 4-1-13--a4-d-i4ie-n-,- Any Council
member traveling 120 miles or more roundtrip to attend regular Council :-m.e-e4ing-e- sessions or official Committee meetings shall be reimbursed actual and necessary expenses, i.e., meals and lodging. Proper receipts must be documented and submitted to the Accounting Department of the Cherokee Nation.
SECTION 4.      AMENDATORY      2 CNCA 1985 (LA 3-83), item (4)
is to read as follows:      
Section 103. Out of Region Travel. 41141-e-44.4me-ilool-C-11-4eflD.e.puth4et., Council members 2.,a-srd--o-t-h-e-r-s-- who are on official business for the Cherokee Nation shall be reimbursed for all actual and necessary expenses incurred for travel outside the fourteen (14) county area of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Proper receipts must be documented and submitted to the Accounting Department of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
SECTION 5.      If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of
this act is for any reason held to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this act. The Council hereby declares that it would have passed this act, and each section, sentence, clause or phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared unconstitutional.
SECTION 6.      It being immediately necessary for the welfare
of the Cherokee Nation, the Council hereby declares that an emergency exists, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
