WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation, through Cherokee Nation Entertainment, has acquired property in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, more particularly described as follows:
 
A part of Section 23, Township 11 North, Range 26 East, I.B.&M., Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, more particularly described as follows:
 
(Truck Plaza 8.12 Acres)
Beginning at the NW corner of said S2 SW4 SW4; thence East along the North line of said S2 SW4 SW4 751.6 feet; thence South 02°40' West 451.7 feet to a point on the North right of way line of a frontage road for U.S. Highway 64; thence along said right of way line South 89°50' West 67.3 feet; thence South 01°31' East 23.5 feet; thence South 88°29' West 260.6 feet; thence North 81° 53' West 51.0 feet; thence South 88° 29' West 353.3 feet to the West line of said S2 SW4 SW4; thence North 0°02' East along said West line 483.9 feet to the Point of Beginning.

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to have said property placed United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation.  The property is part of the Cherokee Casino Roland Complex.   The Roland Casino is owned by Cherokee Nation and operated by Cherokee Nation Entertainment, LLC, it is located on United States of American in Trust for Cherokee Nation lands.   The subject of this Resolution includes an 8.12 acre Travel Plaza, a 3.27 acres Cherokee Hotel site, and adjoining vacant lands covering 39.73 acres.
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, Chadwick Smith, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tract of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
