AN ACT RELATING TO THE NAMING OF THE CHEROKEE IMMERSION MIDDLE SCHOOL AS ᏧᎾᏕᎶᏆᏍᏗ ᎦᎵᏉᎩ ᏂᏚᏳᎪᏛ (TSUNADELOQUASDI GALIQUOGI NIDUYUGDV)

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION:
Section 1. Title and Codification
This Act shall be known as the “ᏧᎾᏕᎶᏆᏍᏗ ᎦᎵᏉᎩ ᏂᏚᏳᎪᏛ (Tsunadeloquasdi Galiquogi Niduyugdv), School of Seven Directions, Naming Act of 2026.”
Section 2. Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to provide a name designation for the Cherokee Immersion Middle School located at 16345 Hwy 62, Tahlequah, OK, further defined by the legal description in Exhibit A. The building shall be known in the Cherokee language as the “School of Seven Directions.” This building should henceforth be known legally and informally as ᏧᎾᏕᎶᏆᏍᏗ ᎦᎵᏉᎩ ᏂᏚᏳᎪᏛ (Tsunadeloquasdi Galiquogi Niduyugodv).

Section 4. Substantive Provisions
A. The Building and Facility Naming Act of 2011, Title 61 C.N.C.A. §1, et seq., requires that the names of Cherokee Nation buildings may only be designated or redesignated by Act of the Council of the Cherokee Nation.
B. This building shall serve as a dedicated space for students to engage and be immersed in the Cherokee language and culture. As such, it is to be named in a manner that reflects the Cherokee Nation’s commitment to language preservation and honors Cherokee cultural values.
C. The Cherokee Immersion Middle School shall be known and referred to as ᏧᎾᏕᎶᏆᏍᏗ ᎦᎵᏉᎩ ᏂᏚᏳᎪᏛ (Tsunadeloquasdi Galiquogi Niduyugodv) “School of Seven Directions.”
Section 5. Provisions as cumulative
The provisions of this Act shall be cumulative to existing law.
Section 6. Severability
The provisions of this Act are severable and if any part of provision hereof shall be held void the decision of the court so holding shall not affect or impair any of the remaining parts or provisions of this Act.
Section 7. Effective Date
The provisions of this Act shall become thirty (30) days from and after the date of its passage and approval.
Section 8. Self-Help Contribution
To the extent that this Act involves programs or services to citizens of the Cherokee Nation or others, self-help contributions shall be required, unless specifically prohibited by the funding agency, or a waiver is granted due to physical or mental incapacity of the participant to contribute.

A tract of land in the E2 NW4 NE4 SW4 and in the W2 NE4 NE4 SW4 of Section 19, Township 16 North, Range 22 East of the Indian Base and Meridian, Cherokee County, State of Oklahoma, more particularly described as follows, to-wit: Commencing at the West Quarter Corner of said Section 19; Thence S89°57’29”E, a distance of 1484.59 feet to the Northwest Corner of said E2 NW4 NE4 SW4; Thence S0°01’49”E, along the West boundary of said E2 NW4 NE4 SW4, a distance of 86.7 feet to the POINT of BEGINNING, being on the Southerly boundary of U.S. Highway No. 62; Thence S85°20’18”E, along the Southerly boundary of the U.S. Highway No. 62, a distance of 40.68 feet; Thence N82°25’48”E, a distance of 301.75 feet; Thence S89°57’29”E, a distance of 20.11 feet; Thence leaving the U.S. Highway Right-of-Way, S00°02’43”E, a distance 283.00 feet; Thence S89°57’29”E, a distance of 150.00 feet; Thence S0°02’43”E, a distance of 327.74 feet to a point on the South boundary of said W2 NE4 NE4 SW4; Thence N89°59’15”W, a distance of 510.04 feet to the Southwest Corner of said E2 NW4 NE4 SW4; Thence N0°01’25”W, a distance of 574.30 feet to the POINT of BEGINNING.
