Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired property in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, more particularly described as follows:
 
The NW4 SW4 and the NW4 SW4 SW4 and beginning at the SW Corner of said SW NW thence N0°14'05"W, 258.10 feet; thence N89°59'll"E, 1318.52 feet; thence SOO°ll'19"E, 258.10 feet; thence S89°59'll'W, 1318.52 feet to the point of beginning, of Section 5, Township 16 North, Range 22 East, Cherokee County, Oklahoma
AND
The S2 N2 SE4 and N2 NE SE and the N2 SE4 SE4 and the SW4 SE4 and the S2 NE4 SW4 and the SE4 SW4 and Lot 7 and the West 16.35 acres of Lot 6 and the SE IO.0 acres of Lot 6, all in Section 6, Township 16 North, Range 22 East, Cherokee County, Oklahoma.

The North 18.25 acres of Lot 1 in Section 7, Township 16 North, Range 22 East, Cherokee County, Oklahoma

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to have said property placed United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation.  The property is vacant pasture land, lying immediately adjacent to the State Highway 51 Bypass running South and West of Tahlequah, Oklahoma.   
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, Chadwick Smith, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tract of land United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
