COUNCIL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION
ADMINISTRAITVE SUPERVISION OF LEGISLATIVE STAFF AND COMMUNICATION
WITH OTHER BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship witt the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, the Tribal Council consist of fteen (15) members each with equal duties, powers, and responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, the Tribal Council has a continuing need to exercise administration, supervision, direction and control over the staff of the Tribal Council; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for communication between the administration and the Tribal Council on matters of intra and extra governmental affairs; and
WHEREAS, the Executive and Finance Committee has historically held the position as the committee dealing with important and crucial matters concerning governmental affairs; and
WHEREAS, the Chairperson and Co-Chairperson of the Executive and finance Committee have historically been senior council members with vast experience in governme tal affairs;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE C EROICEE NATION, that unless otherwise provided for by the Council, the Chairperson and the )CorChairperson of the Executive and Finance Committee,shall have the authority to exercise adminisfration, supervision, direction and control over all matters concerning the staff of the Tribal Council.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED B THE COUNCIL OF THV CHEROKEE NATION, that the Chairperson and/or the Co-Chairperson of the ExeOtive and Finance Committee shall have full signatory authority for the expenditures of the Tribal Chuncil and Legislative Staff.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Chairperson and Co-Chairperson shall be the primary point f qommunication between the Executive and Legislative branches of the Cherokee Nation, mind that nothing in this Resolution is intended to limit or hinder communication between the Executi e or Judicial Branch with any member of the Tribal Council.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION, that this Resolution supersedes Council Resolution 39-97.
