Title
AN ACT RELATING TO CHEROKEE NATION OF OKLAHOMA; ESTABLISHING STANDING COMMITTEES OF THE COUNCIL; AMENDING 2 CNCA (LA 2-83);

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION:
SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 2 CNCA 1985 (LA 2-83)
paragraphs 1 and 2 are hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. AMENDATORY 2 CNCA 1985 (LA 2-83),
paragraph 4 is to read as follows:
Section 101. Committees.
The following Standing Committees of the Council are hereby established:
(1). Community Development
(2). Constitution Revision
(3). Economic and Industrial Development
(4). Education
(5). Employment and Training
(6). Election
(7). Executive and Finance
(8). Health
(9). HIP/Environmental Health
(10). Land
(11). Personnel
(12). Roads
(13). Registration
(14). Rules
SECTION 3. AMENDATORY 2 CNCA 1985 (LA 2-83),
paragraph 5 is to read as follows:
Section 102. Membership of Committees. :-B-5--11-f-U-RTH-RR131i-A-0-TED--L-Frat-Membership on all Standing Committees shall be by appointment of the Deputy Principal Chief with nominations for said appointments coming from the Council of the Cherokee Nation. Without good cause shown, no appointment of a nominee shall be denied. All nominations shall be brought before the Council for approval and conformation. The Principal Chief and the Deputy Principal Chief shall serve as non-voting Ex Officio members of any Standing Committee. The Council shall set the number of members to serve on each Standing Committee.
Section 103. Duties. The Council shall define the duties of the Standing Committees.
SECTION 4. AMENDATORY 2 CNCA 1985 (LA 2-83),
paragraph 3 is to read as follows:
Section 104. Repeal. Any and all Resolutions, Bills, or Laws pertaining to establishing Committees and the duties and procedures thereof are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of
this act is for any reason held to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this act. The Council hereby declares that it would have passed this
act, and each section, sentence, clause or phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared unconstitutional.
SECTION 6. It being immediately necessary for the welfare
of the Cherokee Nation, the Council hereby declares that an emergency exists, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
