A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION 44-23 IN SUPPORT OF CERTAIN HEALTH CARE CAPITAL PROJECTS UNDER THE RESPOND, RECOVER AND REBUILD PLAN

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation ("Nation") since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, the Council of the Cherokee Nation resolved to support certain healthcare related capital projects in Resolution 44-23, including but not limited to the replacement of W.W. Hastings Hospital at an estimated investment of $470 million; and,
WHEREAS, an opportunity to expand parking capacity having arisen since the initial planning of the replacement W.W. Hastings Hospital based on a further parking needs assessment, the Principal Chief has advised the Council of the need to construct a parking garage at a cost of $31 million.
WHEREAS, the Council reaffirms its support of all projects described in Resolution 44-23, subject to all relevant constitutional and statutory appropriation and oversight authority and revises its support of the following project proposed by the Principal Chief:
• Replacement W.W. Hastings Hospital, previously supported by Resolution 67-21, at an estimated cost of $501 million.
WHEREAS, nothing herein limits the further development or funding of future health care infrastructure projects or limits the Council of the Cherokee Nation's appropriation or oversight authority with respect to the projects identified herein; and,
WHEREAS, the Council of the Cherokee Nation reaffirms its encouragement to Administration to explore further health care infrastructure needs across the Reservation and to bring such future potential projects and funding sources to the Council for review.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council of the Cherokee Nation supports the amendment of Resolution 44-23 to increase the estimated cost of the W.W. Hastings Hospital Replacement project to an estimated $501 million, subject to the Council’s appropriation and oversight authority, for the purpose of adding a parking garage to said project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Resolution 44-23 is hereby, as expressed in this resolution, amended but otherwise remains in full force and effect.
