AN ACT RELATING TO CHEROKEE NATION OF OKLAHOMA LAW REGARDING SALARIES AND TRAVEL EXPENSES FOR THE PRINCIPAL CHIEF AND DEPUTY PRINCIPAL CHIEF; AMENDING 3 CNCA (LA 3-83); SEPARATING CERTAIN PROVISIONS INTO SEPARATE BILLS; ADDING NEW ITEMS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION:
SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 3 CNCA 1985 (LA 3-83), item (1)
is to read as follows:
Chapter 1. Office of the Principal Chief
Section 101. Salary of the Principal Chief. The salary of the Principal Chief shall be $55,000.00 per annum.
Section 102. Local Travel Expenses. The Principal Chief
shall receive $500.00 per month for travel within the
fourteen county area of the Cherokee Nation.
SECTION 2. AMENDATORY NEW ITEM 3 CNCA 1985 is to
read as follows:
Section 103. Out of Region Travel. The Principal Chief, when on official business for the Cherokee Nation, shall be reimbursed for all actual and necessary expenses incurred for travel outside the fourteen (14) county area of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Proper receipts must be documented and submitted to the Accounting Department of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
SECTION 3. AMENDATORY NEW ITEM 3 CNCA (LA 2-81)
is to read as follows:
Section 104. Nepotism. No person shall be employed in any capacity by the Cherokee Nation who is related to the Principal Chief by affinity or consanguinity within the first degree.
SECTION 4. AMENDATORY 3 CNCA 1985 (LA 3-83), item (2)
is to read as follows:
Chapter 2. Office of the Deputy Principal Chief.
Section 201. Salary of the Deputy Principal Chief. The salary of the Deputy Principal Chief shall be $32,000.00 per annum.
Section 202. Local Travel Expenses. The Deputy Principal Chief shall receive 4-p-1-1,10-$500.00 per month for travel within the fourteen county area of the Cherokee Nation.
SECTION 4. AMENDATORY NEW ITEM 3 CNCA 1985 is to
read as follows:
Section 203. Out of Region Travel. SECTION 5. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of
this act is for any reason held to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this act. The Council hereby declares that it would have passed this act, and each section, sentence, clause or phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared unconstitutional.
SECTION 6. It being immediately necessary for the welfare
of the Cherokee Nation, the Council hereby declares that an emergency exists, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
