Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATIONS TO THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION FOR TRIBAL TRANSPORTATION FACILITY BRIDGE PROGRAM FUNDING

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and

                     

WHEREAS, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) provides funding to repair or replace bridges on the Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory; and

 

WHEREAS, Title 23 United States Code, as amended by the IIJA, specifies the eligibility requirements for Tribal Transportation Facility Bridge Program (TTFBP) funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the following bridges are located on Cherokee Nation’s Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory; they are either a part of or eligible for the National Bridge Inventory, and are herein identified as engineering and construction projects for the TTFBP:

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Federal Highway Administration is hereby authorized to pursue all matters necessary to finance the engineering and construction of said bridge projects, hereinafter deemed as priorities for the TTFBP as well as the Tribal Transportation Program.
