A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE RENOMINATION OF JASON SOPER AS A COMMISSIONER OF THE CHEROKEE NATION GAMING COMMISSION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission was created and codified under Title IV of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated;

WHEREAS, the Principal Chief is authorized to select the members of the Commission subject to majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation;

WHEREAS, the term of office of this Commissioner is three (3) years;

WHEREAS, Jason Soper is duly qualified to fill this vacancy pursuant to Section 12, Chapter 2, Title IV of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated and has dutifully served in that capacity since 2004.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Jason Soper is hereby confirmed as a Commissioner of the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission for the term of three (3) years from August 2008 until August 2011, as authorized by Section 12, Chapter 2, Title IV of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated.
