A RESOLUTION ELECTING A MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL TO THE OFFICE OF SECRETARY FOR THE COUNCIL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the Cherokee Nation provides for the Office of Secretary of the Council with duties to attest to all legislation of the Council and maintain the records and journals of the Council; and,
WHEREAS, this office is elected annually from the membership of the Council; and,
WHEREAS, Title 19 Section 32 of the Cherokee Code provides for the Office of Secretary of the Council; and,
WHEREAS, The Secretary of the Council is to be a member of high qualification and experience capable of performing the duties of the office with fidelity;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Cherokee Nation through its Council, that _______________ be elected as Secretary of the Council for the term beginning September 2026 to September 2027.
