RESOLUTION NO. 39-97
COUNCIL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION OF LEGISLATIVE STAFF
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, The Legislative Body has a need to exercise administrative supervision, direction and control over the staff of the Legislative Body;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council of the Cherokee Nation does by this Resolution hereby assume the daily administrative supervision, direction and administrative control over the Legislative Aide and staff. The Tribal Council co-chairs of the Executive and Finance Committee shall have full signatory authority for expenditures of the Tribal Council and Legislative staff.
CERTIFICATION
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the Council of the Cherokee Nation at a duly called meeting on the 12TH day of MAY
1997, having 15 members present, constituting a quorum, by the
vote of 13 yea; 1 nay; 1 abstaining.
