A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHEROKEE NATION MARSHAL SERVICE TO DONATE SURPLUS VEHICLES TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES CROSS-DEPUTIZED WITH THE MARSHAL SERVICE
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, it is always beneficial for the Cherokee Nation to partner and support law enforcement within the Nation's jurisdiction for the benefit of our citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service has accrued surplus vehicles; and,
WHEREAS, the vehicles are identified as a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, VIN# 3GNFK16ZX4G260608 and a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, Vin# 1GNEK13TO5R268519; and,
WHEREAS, the donation of these vehicles to law enforcement agencies within the Cherokee Nation identified as Northeastern State University Campus Police and District 27 Drug and Violent Crimes Task force, would substantially support and enhance the effectiveness of the cross-deputation relationship between the Cherokee Nation and that agency and for the benefit of our Cherokee Communities; and therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council authorizes the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service to donate the following surplus vehicles: 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, VIN# 3GNFK16ZX4G260608 and a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, Vin# 1GNEK13TO5R268519 to appropriate law enforcement agencies within the Cherokee Nation which will serve the Cherokee communities
