A LEGISLATIVE ACT RELATING TO THE ADMINISTERING OF INDIVIDUAL AND COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS; AMENDING CERTAIN LEGISLATIVE ACTS; REPEALING LA#27-07; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION:
Section 1. Title and Codification.
This Act shall be known as the “The Administration of Individual and Community Assistance Programs Act of 2007”, and shall be codified as Title _____, Section ______ of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated.
Section 2. Purpose.
The purpose of this Act is to amend certain acts to transfer the administration of individual and community assistance programs from the Legislative Branch to the Executive Branch. No laws will be affected insofar as guidelines and regulations, however all funding will be administered by the affected program. The intent of this legislation is to eliminate duplication or replacement of assistance currently available and administered by the Executive Branch.

Section 4. Definitions.

For the purposes of this Title:

"Tribal Council member" means any duly elected or appointed member of the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council;
"Cherokee citizen" means any registered member of the Cherokee Nation;
"Medical Emergency" means any medical condition that places an extreme emotional or financial burden on the Cherokee citizen;
"Emergency Housing Repair" means necessary repair to a Cherokee citizen's home that would be required to keep the home safely habitable;
