A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - NICUT 127 ACRES
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation acquired property in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma containing 127 acres. The property is northeast of Sallisaw in the northeast part of the County. The Sequoyah County property is further described as follows:
Indian Meridian, Oklahoma, Sequoyah County
Township 13 North, Range 26 East,
Section 8, E2 SW4 SW4, W2 SE4 SW4 and all that part of the E2 SE4 SW4 lying South and West of the Center of Little Lee Creek;
Section 17, W2 NW4.
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Charles Hoskin, Jr., and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tracts of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
