A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF DEACON TURNER AS A BOARD MEMBER OF THE CHEROKEE NATION EDUCATION CORPORATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has formed a nonprofit corporation for the promotion of education members of the Cherokee Nation, to provide educational assistance to members of the Cherokee Nation and to promote and preserve the language, culture and history of the Nation; and

WHEREAS, the Principal Chief is authorized to select the members of the Board of Directors subject to majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation; and

WHEREAS, Deacon Turner is duly qualified to fill this board position pursuant to the Bylaws of the Cherokee Nation Education Corporation.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Deacon Turner is hereby confirmed as a Board Member of the Cherokee Nation Education Corporation for a term of four (4) years from August 2007 until August 2011 as authorized by the Bylaws of Cherokee Nation Education Corporation.
