A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY OF TAHLEQUAH TO ANNEX LANDS IN TAHLEQUAH, CHEROKEE COUNTY, OKLAHOMA

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation requests a tract of land located in Cherokee County be annexed to the City of Tahlequah, Cherokee County, Oklahoma. The tract of land is described as follows:
A tract of land lying in and being a part of the SW4 NE4 and a part of the NW4 NE4 of Section 34, Township 17 North, Range 22 East, I.B.&M. Cherokee County, Oklahoma, more particularly described as follows, to-wit: BEGINNING at a point on the West boundary and 100.0 feet South of the Northwest corner of said SW4 NE4; thence South 0º 06' 02" West, 1225.71 feet to the Southwest corner of said SW4 NE4; thence North 89º 48' 32" East, 1318.65 feet to the Southeast corner of said SW4 NE4; thence North 0º 05' 11" East, along the East boundary of said SW4 NE4, 661.28 feet; thence South 89º 50' 36" West 3.9 feet; thence North 0º 04'19" West 891.27 feet; thence South 89º 56' 46" West, 1047.88 feet; thence South 0º 06' 02" West, 330 feet; thence South 89º 56' 46" West, 264.0 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. Containing 44.93 acres, more or less.
WHEREAS, the above described tract of land is proposed to be annexed to the City of Tahlequah, Cherokee County, Oklahoma;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief, Bill John Baker, and/or his authority designee (s) be authorized to request annexation as above described.
