A RESOLUTION TO MODIFY THE POLICIES FOR THE TRACKING AND DISTRIBUTION OF COMMUNITY YOUTH GRANT FUNDING APPLICATIONS AND DISBURSEMENTS

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, it is beneficial for the Cherokee Nation to advance the quality of life of its citizens and for all peoples of Oklahoma; and,
WHEREAS, the Council of the Cherokee Nation has a great interest in advancing the opportunities of Cherokee Nation Youth and strengthen their leadership capabilities and capacities as part of the Community Youth Grant Funding; and,
WHEREAS, to facilitate the distribution of Community Youth Grant Funding, the purpose of this resolution is to amend the policies for youth grant funding applications and for funding to be distributed by district and be evenly divided among the council districts; and therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, the Council hereby directs funding for the Community Youth Grant shall be tracked by name, address, phone number and district regardless of whether youth are funded, not funded or ineligible to project long-term funding needs; and, a waiting list shall be established to track applicants and the Community Services Division shall prepare a monthly report to the Tribal Council reflecting this information.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council hereby directs that funding for the Community Youth Grant shall be distributed by district and be evenly divided among the council districts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, the Council hereby directs funding for the Community Youth Grant shall be distributed evenly over the fiscal year and apportioned equally by month.
