A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE USDA FOR A HOUSING PRESERVATION GRANT

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Housing Services Group requests authorization to apply for a $40,650 Housing Preservation Grant through the United States Department of Agriculture;

WHEREAS, the grant, if awarded, will be used in conjunction with funds from the Home Improvement Program to assist families with needed home repairs;

WHEREAS, matching funds of $40,650 will be from the Housing Improvement Program Funds.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that application to the United States Department of Agriculture, Housing Preservation Grant Program is hereby authorized, and that the Principal Chief or his designee, is authorized to execute any documents required to secure such funding.
