A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE UNITED STATES BRUEAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS AND BUREAU OF INDIAN EDUCATION TO TRANSFER TITLE OF THREE BUILDINGS WITHIN THE SEQUOYAH SCHOOLS CAMPUS FOR THE PURPOSES OF DEMOLITION PURSUANT TO THE SEQUOYAH SCHOOLS $65 MILLION CAPITAL PLAN

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, the Council of the Cherokee Nation passed Resolution 59-24 in support of the $65 million Sequoyah Schools Capital Plan submitted by the Principal Chief, providing the largest single capital investment to Sequoyah Schools in its history by the Cherokee Nation, in support of the education of the citizens of the Cherokee Nation and other federally recognized tribes who attend and will attend Sequoyah Schools, and;
WHEREAS, the Sequoyah Schools Campus is located on land presently held in trust by the U.S. government, located south of Tahlequah, Oklahoma along the south side of U.S. Hwy No. 62 and is further defined by the address 17091 S. Muskogee Avenue, Tahlequah, Oklahoma 74464. The campus is situated within a 71.76-acre parcel, located in parts of the NE4 SE4 of Section 19 and W2 of Section 20, Township 16 North, Range 22 East, I.B.&M., Cherokee County, and;
WHEREAS, the Sequoyah Schools Capital Plan includes the demolition of three (3) buildings on the Sequoyah Schools Campus presently owned by the U.S. government through the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). The buildings for demolition are identified as buildings #13, #97, and #99, as further defined in Exhibit A, and;
