A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF SUSAN PLUMB AS CHEROKEE NATION ELECTION BOARD COMMISSIONER
Body
WHEREAS,      the Cherokee Nation, since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee People; and,
 
WHEREAS,       the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and
 
WHEREAS,       the Cherokee Nation Election Commission was created and authorized by Legislative Act 6-10; and,
 
WHEREAS,       Section 11 of said Act authorizes the Tribal Council to appoint two (2) members to the Commission; and
 
WHEREAS, Roger L. Johnson, Chairman of the Election Commission, recently resigned leaving the Commission with less than a full membership; and
 
WHEREAS, Roger L. Johnson was appointed by the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council and in accordance with Section 11 (A) (3) of the Election Code, the Tribal Council shall fill the vacancy for the remainder of the unexpired term.
 
WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to have a fully seated Election Commission consisting of five (5) members.
 
WHEREAS, Susan Plumb is duly qualified to fill this position on the Election Commission and to serve in this capacity in accordance with Legislative Act 6-10.
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council, that Susan Plumb is hereby confirmed as a Commissioner of the Cherokee Nation Election Commission to serve the remainder of the unexpired term of Roger L. Johnson and will serve this capacity in accordance with Legislative Act 6-10.
