A RESOLUTION HONORING THE 100TH BIRTHDAY OF MARY ROSS

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, Mary Ross is a Cherokee Citizen of high distinction, and

WHEREAS, Mary Ross is to be recognized for her service to the Cherokee Nation and the United States for her contribution to the space program and NASA, and

WHEREAS, Mary Ross was a benefit to the first moon landing, and

WHEREAS, Mary Ross is to be honored as an example of the intelligence and perseverance of the Cherokee People,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION TRIBAL COUNCIL, that Mary Ross be honored as a Cherokee Nation Citizen of high distinction on her 100^th birthday and that she be a recognized example of the intelligence and perseverance of the Cherokee People.
