A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A PROPOSAL TO THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY FOR A CHEROKEE LEAD CERTIFICATION/ACCREDITATION PROGRAM
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation operates the Office of Environmental Programs;
 
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to administer a Lead Certification/Accreditation Program to certify lead-based paint activities in the Tribal Jurisdiction.
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Cherokee Nation Council authorizes Environmental Programs to submit a proposal to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Air Toxics Division: Cherokee Nation Lead Certification/Accreditation Program, and that Chad Smith, Principal Chief (or his designee) shall be authorized to execute all official matters in this regard.
