A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT TO THE WELLING, OKLAHOMA FIRE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation EMS Department has a "Jaws of Life" system which is surplus to their needs and its donation to a worthy organization would be beneficial to the Cherokee Nation;
WHEREAS, the Welling, Oklahoma Fire Department has been trained on this particular system and has expressed a desire to place this system in service at the Welling Fire Department;
WHEREAS, this system could perform life saving functions to Cherokee citizens and others in the Welling, Oklahoma service area.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, Chadwick Smith, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to donate a "Jaws of Life" system to the Welling, Oklahoma Fire Department for emergency services.
