A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF SHARON WRIGHT AS MARSHAL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, pursuant to Article VII, Section 14 of the 1999 Cherokee Nation Constitution the Principal Chief is authorized to appoint the Marshal and confirmed by the Tribal Council of the Cherokee Nation;

WHEREAS, the terms of office for the Marshal shall be for five years from June 2011 and ending May 2016;

WHEREAS, Sharon Wright is duly qualified to fill this position.

      BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Sharon Wright is hereby confirmed as Marshal of the Cherokee Nation, to fulfill the duties of Marshal as specified in Article VII Section 14 of the Constitution of the Cherokee Nation for a term beginning June 2011 and ending May 2016.
