A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF SHANNON FISHER AS A COMMISSIONER OF THE CHEROKEE NATION GAMING COMMISSION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission was created and codified under Title IV of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated; and

WHEREAS, the Principal Chief is authorized to select the members of the Commission subject to majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation; and

WHEREAS, the term of office of a Commissioner expires September 2007; and WHEREAS, the term of office of this Commissioner is (3) three years; and

WHEREAS, Shannon Fisher is duly qualified to fill this vacancy pursuant to Section 12, Chapter 2, Title IV of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Shannon Fisher is hereby confirmed as a Commissioner of the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission for the term of (3) years beginning September 2007 and expiring September 2010, as authorized by Section 12, Chapter 2, Title IV of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated.
