Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is interested in achieving and maintaining a desirable measure of prosperity, promoting the health and welfare of its citizens;
 
WHEREAS, a goal of the Cherokee Nation Department of Children, Youth and Family Services is to help eliminate family violence;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has demonstrated effectiveness in the delivery of family violence prevention services to Indian families through prevention, diversion and emergency shelter services.
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that an application for funding be developed by the Department of Children, Youth and Family Services and submitted to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Family Violence Prevention and Services Program, for victims of family violence; and
      
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief, Chad Smith and/or his designee be authorized to sign documents necessary to submit said contract on behalf of the Cherokee Nation.
