A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CAREER SERVICES TO DEVELOP AND SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR FOR A WORKFORCE INNOVATION FUND GRANT

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration has funds available for a Workforce Innovation Fund grant to support innovative approaches to the design and delivery of employment and training services; and
WHEREAS, Career Services, in partnership with Cherokee Nation Businesses, has the experience and expertise to administer such a program; and
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation Businesses and Career Services wish to develop a program to increase employment opportunities for Cherokee citizens.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, Career Services develop and submit a grant application to the Department for Labor for a Workforce Innovation Fund grant.
