A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEVELOPMENT AND SUBMISSION OF A THREE-YEAR PLAN FOR P.L. 102-477 PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people,

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government-to-government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has elected to combine the Workforce Investment Act programs with the Child Care and Development programs into a single plan under P.L. 102-477;

WHEREAS, the current P.L. 102-477 Plan expires September 30, 2007;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation wishes to continue to provide employment and training and related services in a coordinated manner.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby authorizes the development and submission of a three-year plan for P.L. 102-477 activities, and that Chad Smith, Principal Chief (or his designee) shall be authorized to conduct contract negotiations and execute all official documents in this regard.
