A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - NORTH STREET
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation, under a Self-Governance agreement through Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act, as amended, operates comprehensive health care and associated programs of Indian Health Service;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired the property known as North Street from Secretary of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Indian Health Service. Currently utilized by Cherokee Nation in support of Cherokee Nation programs, the site served the public’s health needs prior to construction of Hastings Hospital. The property is located along North Street in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The property is further described as:
A tract of land lying in and being a part of Seminary Park in the City of Tahlequah, Cherokee County, Oklahoma, according to the official plat thereof approved by the Secretary of the Interior, March 4, 1904 and also being a part of the SE4 of NW4 of Section 28, Township 17 North, Range 22 East, more particularly described as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at a point 25.00 feet South of the North boundary and 305.60 feet West of the East boundary of said SE4 NW4; Thence South 00°35’50” East a distance of 257.60 feet; Thence South 89°33’30” West a distance of 70.50 feet; Thence South 00°18’00” East a distance of 111.80 feet; Thence South 89°33’30” West a distance of 75.00 feet; Thence North 01°43’30” East a distance of 150 feet; Thence North 02°58’30” East a distance of 220.70 feet to a point 25.00 feet South of the North boundary of said SE4 NW4; Thence North 89°55’00” East a distance of 126.30 feet to the Point of B...
