A RESOLUTION ELECTING JOSHUA SAM TO THE OFFICE OF SECRETARY OF THE TRIBAL COUNCIL
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, the Rules of Procedure of the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council provides for the Office of Secretary of the Tribal Council with duties to attest to all legislation of the Council and maintain the records and journals of the Council; and,
WHEREAS, this office is elected annually from the membership of the Tribal Council; and,
WHEREAS, Title 19 Section 32 of the Cherokee Code provides for the Office of Secretary of the Council; and,
WHEREAS, The Secretary of the Council is to be a member of high qualification and experience capable of performing the duties of the office with fidelity;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Cherokee Nation through its Tribal Council, that Joshua Sam be elected as Secretary of the Council for the term beginning September 2025 to September 2025.
