A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - TILLERY

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, Housing Authority of Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma owns property in Delaware County, Oklahoma, more particularly described as follows:

The SW4 and the SW4 SW4 SE4 and the W2 SE4 SW4 SE4 and the W2 E2 SE4 SW4 SE4 of Section 31, Township 20 North, Range 26 East, I.B.&M., Delaware County, Oklahoma.

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to have said property placed United States of America in Trust for the Cherokee Nation.  The property is occupied by the Housing Authority of Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.  

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation and/or his/her authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tract of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
