Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised its sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is desires to utilize the skills and capacity of its citizens as individuals and as communities in the development and provision of services to its citizens;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is desirous to provide services and improve these conditions through the construction of the Leach community waterline;
 
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has announced the annual competition for the Indian Community Development Block Grant for community facilities activities and requires certain assurances and submittals.
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the submission of a grant application, including any required or relevant submissions, certifications, and assurances, is approved for up to $800,000 in Indian Community Development Block Grant funds for community facilities fund project, program administration cost, any necessary technical assistance, a public service project, and any other related costs;
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Cherokee Nation commits $270,000 in cash of tribal funds for leveraging/matching HUD funds for the purpose of construction of waterline in Leach community and demonstrates its support for the application thereby.
