A LEGISLATIVE ACT REQUIRING THAT THE CHEROKEE NATION AND THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA VOTER REGISTRATION APPLICATIONS BE MADE AVAILABLE AT ALL CHEROKEE NATION TAG OFFICES AND CHEROKEE NATION HEALTH CLINICS

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION:
Section 1. Title and Codification
This act shall be known as the “Cherokee Nation Tag & Clinic Voter Registration Act of 2009” and codified under Title ____ of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated (CNCA).
Section 2. Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to increase voter registration and participation by Cherokee Citizens in both Cherokee Nation and State of Oklahoma elections.
Section 3. Legislative History
Article VI § 7 of the Cherokee Nation Constitution, which states:
“The Council shall have the power to establish laws which it shall deem
necessary and proper for the good of the Nation, which shall not be contrary
to the provisions of this Constitution. The style of all bills shall be: “Be It Enacted By The Cherokee Nation”. The style of all resolutions shall be “Be
It Resolved By The Cherokee Nation”.
Section 4. Definitions
Cherokee Nation Tag Office: Means any place or facility which sells or distributes vehicle tags/registrations according to the laws of the Cherokee Nation.
Voter Registration Application: Means the officially designated voter registration from the respective jurisdiction.
Cherokee Nation Health Clinics: Means those facilities that are operated by the Cherokee Nation for the purposes of medical treatment
Section 5. Substantive Provisions
Section I: In each facility operated by the Cherokee Nation that sells or distributes vehicle registration or tags shall make available to the person purchasing or receiving said tag/registration an application to register to vote in the Cherokee Nation and State of Oklahoma
