A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING CHEROKEE CITIZEN - CODY WILLIAM WEST
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, it is always important to recognize the achievements of our Cherokee Nation Citizens who show great skills, accomplishments, and examples for others; and
WHEREAS, Cody William West, a resident of Claremore, Oklahoma, has been a member of the Oklahoma Indian Student Honor Society, the Oklahoma High School Honor Society, and the National Honor Society since 2009; and,
WHEREAS, other High School accomplishments include being a two-time tournament Champion in Vex Robotics, ROTC and many other Claremore High School Activities, and, has
participated as a Bible Camp Counselor and in a Belize Mission Trip; and,
WHEREAS, Cody William West has been accepted into the United States Naval Academy; and, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council hereby recognizes Cody William West, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, for his outstanding accomplishments and for being accepted into the United States Naval Academy.
