A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHEROKEE NATION TO LEASE TRUST LAND TO CHEROKEE NATIONAL HISTORICAL SOCIETY, INC.
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee National Historical Society has requested to lease Cherokee Nation trust land for the purpose of expanding the ancient village at the Cherokee Heritage Center for one dollar a year for twenty-five years with an option for an additional twenty-five year lease with appraisal waived on the following tract of land:
Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Block 6 and Lots 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Block 7 in North Park Hill in Section 15, Township 16 North, Range 22 East, Cherokee County.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council authorizes a lease on this trust unit to Cherokee National Historical Society, Inc., for one dollar a year for twenty-five years with appraisal waived with an option for an additional twenty-five years and that Chad Smith, Principal Chief (or his designee) be authorized to negotiate and execute all official matters in this regard.
