A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE RENOMONATION OF KYLE HASKINS AS JUSTICE OF THE CHEROKEE NATION SUPREME COURT

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Supreme Court was created and authorized by Article VIII, Section 1 of the Cherokee Nation Constitution;

WHEREAS, the Principal Chief is authorized to select the justices subject to majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation;

WHEREAS, the term of office #5 expires on December 31, 2008;

WHEREAS, Kyle Haskins is duly qualified to fill this vacancy pursuant to the laws of the Cherokee Nation.

      BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Kyle Haskins is hereby confirmed as a Justice of the Supreme Court as authorized by Article VIII, Section 1 of the Cherokee Nation Constitution.
