A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA STUDENT AND CHEROKEE CITIZEN CALEB BUSHYHEAD
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Caleb Bushyhead is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and a student at the University of Oklahoma;
WHEREAS, Caleb Bushyhead is the shortstop for the University of Oklahoma baseball team (Oklahoma);
WHEREAS, Caleb Bushyhead is the only Sooner to play in all 2010 season games and he leads the team with starts;
WHEREAS, Caleb Bushyhead, in a game against South Carolina during the NCAA Division 1 Baseball Championship, went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI single against South Carolina;
WHEREAS, Caleb Bushyhead has played an integral role in advancing the Sooners to the winner's bracket during the College World Series.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Principal Chief, the Deputy Principal Chief, the Council and all the citizens of this great Nation hereby commend and congratulate Caleb Bushyhead for his outstanding athletic accomplishments, his contributions to the University of Oklahoma, and his representation of all Cherokee citizens.
