A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHEROKEE NATION ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS TO DONATE TWO (2) SURPLUS BELFORT RAIN GAUGE UNITS TO THE TRIBAL AIR MONITORING SUPPORT (TAMS) CENTER IN LAS VEGAS, NV

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation Environmental Programs has two Belfort rain gauge units which have been replaced by more accurate electronic units and are no longer needed;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation Environmental Programs has limited space to store unused equipment;
WHEREAS, the TAMS Center provides training and support services to Tribal environmental professionals to develop tribal capacity to assess, understand and prevent environmental impacts that adversely affect health, cultural, and natural resources;
WHEREAS, the TAMS Center has need of equipment to use for training purposes and/or to loan to tribes for environmental monitoring.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council authorizes Cherokee Nation Environmental Programs to donate two Belfort rain gauge units (serial numbers 8598X and 10379) to the TAMS Center.
