A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE REAPPOINTMENT OF SUSANNAH PLUMB SCOTT AS A BOARD MEMBER OF THE CHEROKEE NATION FOUNDATION
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Foundation (“CNF”) was formed as a nonprofit corporation for the intention of the promotion of education to citizens of the Cherokee Nation, to provide financial assistance and support to citizens of the Cherokee Nation pursuing education and to preserve the language, culture and history of the Cherokee Nation; and,
WHEREAS, the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation is authorized to appoint members of the Cherokee Nation Foundation, subject to confirmation by majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation; and,
WHEREAS, Susannah Plumb Scott is duly qualified to fill this position on the CNF, seat four (4), and has been selected by the Principal Chief; and,
WHEREAS, Susannah Plumb Scott is hereby nominated for reappointment to fill this board position on the Cherokee Nation Education Foundation.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Susannah Plumb Scott is hereby appointed and confirmed as a Board Member of the CNF, for a term of four (4) years, commencing March 2026 and ending March 31, 2030.
