A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - ROSS ROAD 255.33 ACRES
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired a tract of land located in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, more particularly described as follows:
A tract of land described as SE NW & SW NE NW & NE less 3.64 acres ROW in Section 32, Township 12 North, Range 20 East, I.B. & M., containing 206.36 acres;
AND
a tract of land described as SE SE SW & S2 S2 SE less 1.03 acres ROW in Section 29, Township 12 North, Range 20 East, I.B.&M., containing 48.97 acres all in Muskogee County, Oklahoma.
Less and except minerals.
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation desires to have said property placed United States of America in Trust for the Cherokee Nation pursuant to Public Law 107-331, Title VI, Section 606, known as the Arkansas Riverbed Settlement Act.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, Chadwick Smith, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of Interior to place said tract of land in Trust in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affair policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
