A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF M. TODD HEMBREE AS ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR THE CHEROKEE NATION

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article VII, Section 13 of the Constitution of the Cherokee Nation, the Principal Chief is authorized to appoint the Attorney General subject to confirmation by the Council of the Cherokee Nation.
WHEREAS, the terms of office for the Attorney General shall be for five years beginning January, 2012 and ending January, 2017.
WHEREAS, M. Todd Hembree is duly qualified to fill this position.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that M. Todd Hembree is hereby confirmed as the Attorney General for the Cherokee Nation, to fulfill the duties of Attorney General as specified in Article VII, Section 13 of the Constitution of the Cherokee Nation for a term beginning January, 2012 and ending January, 2017.
