A RESOLUTION TO ENCOURAGE, ENDORSE AND PROMOTE THE ALTERNATIVE ENERGY INITIATIVE DEVELOPED BY BRIAN BARLOW

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, Brian Barlow, who is a member of the District 1 Youth Leadership Council, has developed and promoted an Alternative Energy Initiative; and
WHEREAS, the goal of this project is to incorporate alternative energy sources into the Tahlequah Public Schools system to being an alternative energy movement within the community by educating students of the advantages of alternative energy resources fiscally and environmentally to shape our future citizens and to provide Tahlequah Public Schools with an alternative energy source for its classrooms and facilities for future development; and
WHEREAS, it is beneficial for the Cherokee Nation to advance the quality of life of its citizens and for all peoples of Oklahoma.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council encourages, endorses and promotes this Alternative Energy Initiative Project which will encourage and educate the community for future considerations in seeking alternative energy resources.
