A RESOLUTION ALLOWING CHEROKEE NATION TO WORK WITH THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, NATIONAL AGRICULTURE STATISTICAL SERVICE (NASS)

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) conducts hundreds of surveys every year and prepares reports covering virtually every aspect of U.S. agriculture;
 
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation can conduct the census of Cherokee citizens and apply for funding from the USDA for conducted said census;
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Cherokee Nation may pursue opportunities with the USDA to conduct a census for the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) and may apply for any funding that may be available for conducting said census.
