A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE REAPPOINTMENT OF COLEMAN BARTOW FITE AS A DISTRICT JUDGE OF THE CHEROKEE NATION DISTRICT COURT

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation District Court was created and authorized by Title 20, Section 11-12, of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated (CNCA);
WHEREAS, the Principal Chief is authorized to appoint district judges of the District Court subject to majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation;
WHEREAS, the current term of office of Coleman Bartow Fite expired August 31, 2013;
WHEREAS, Coleman Bartow Fite is duly qualified and eligible to be reappointed to the District Court pursuant to the laws of the Cherokee Nation.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Coleman Bartow Fite is hereby confirmed to the position of District Judge of the Cherokee Nation District Court for the term of four (4) years, September 1, 2013 until August 31, 2017, as authorized by Legislative Act 11-90, the Act of December 13, 1990.
