A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A SPECIAL GRANT APPLICATION TO THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE TRIBAL HERITAGE GRANT FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION FUNDING
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has a strong interest and commitment to the preservation of the Tribe's history, culture, traditions and tribal art and skills; and,
 
WHEREAS, National Park Service has funding available through Tribal Heritage Grants for Historic Preservation Funds to conduct a needs survey of the National Treasures; and, therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council approves and authorizes the submission of a grant proposal the National Park Service Tribal Heritage Grant Historic Preservation Funding.
