A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF DR. ROGER MONTGOMERY AS A BOARD MEMBER FOR CHEROKEE HEALTH PARTNERS

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, it is beneficial for the Cherokee Nation to advance the quality of life of its citizens and for all peoples of Oklahoma; and,
WHEREAS, the health and welfare of all Cherokee citizens and assuring that the highest quality of medical services are made available are significant issues and concerns of the Cherokee Nation; and,
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation partnered with Tahlequah City Hospital as Cherokee Health Partners in 2004 to assure there is alternative health services in certain specialty areas and for the Cherokee Nation to work together with Tahlequah City Hospital for the best health services for its citizens;
WHEREAS, the original shareholder of Cherokee Health Partners was Cherokee Nation Comprehensive Care Agency as an agency of the Cherokee Nation but is now Cherokee Nation; and, therefore,
WHEREAS, the term of office of this Board member is (5) five years,
WHEREAS, to have good representation for Cherokee Nation with Cherokee Health Partners, board members should be appointed to serve on the board for Health Partners; and therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council hereby resolves and approves that Dr. Roger Montgomery shall represent the Cherokee Nation as a board member for Cherokee Health Partners for a term of (5) five years, from August, 2014 until August 2019.
